Unlimited distance within the same plane is kinda standard. Now, finding something that really works between planes... that would be a great find.
Transdimensional Spell could at least get you the transitive planes.

Brain Spider (L7 Domain spell; XPH & SRD) - not bad for an intrigue game.
I have Read Thoughts, which with clever baiting (mention the thing you want them to think about, either in casual conversation nearby, or even by just directly asking them about it) can do almost as much. I mean... as anyone who has ever played The Game can tell you, trying NOT to think of something just makes you think of it more. :P

Good suggestions, though. Thanks!

Was the cloak a Shadow Cloak? That's one of my favorite D&D items...

D&D 3rd / Advanced Learning choices for Unseen Seer

I'm having a really hard time choosing this... In the process of digging around, I've found some tremendous spells that are hardly mentioned or not mentioned at all in the discussion threads and guides for this (and for divination spells in general). So... I turn to you, my friends, to help me make the choice (which in all likelyhood I'll make before I get all that many replies to this thread even, but I thought it worth sharing my discoveries in any case...). So... enough of my long-winded diatribe. The spells!

Echo Skull is a 5th level druid spell that is just cool as f*ck. It lets you see, hear, and speak out of a skull that you cast it on, and lasts 1 hour per level. This is bar none the greatest long distance communication spell in all of D&D 3.5 that I've been able to find. However... it is easily replaced by a pair of Aspect Mirrors, which for 8,000 gp do the exact same thing, but better (they're bidirectional in all ways). So... awesome effect, but reproducible by a cheap (for the level) magic item.

Find the Path (6th level for everyone but sorc/wiz, for some reason...): this spell I suspect is either incredibly awesome, or completely useless, and much of that will probably depend on the DM and the specific adventure types that you run into. I'm not sold on it, personally, but it is worth considering.

The old standby Hunter's Eye, of course, if you like sneak attack damage. Damage is fairly easy to generate, though, and I'm not convinced this spell is worth the opportunity cost of giving up one of the others on this list. One thing to consider is that if you have (free) Persistent Spell and UMD, you can just pick up a wand of this...

Hindsight is crazy awesome for any kind of "mystery" game, which the one I'm in definitely qualifies as. I would have killed for this spell early on. Now... the game is focused less on uncovering mysteries than it was initially. It is on the sorc/wiz list at 9th, but you can snag it from the bard list at 6th as an Unseen Seer. It's definitely a contender, but not clearly the best for everyone. One major downside is the 1,000 gp material component, though... (why couldn't this be a focus?  :p )

Wild Instincts is a 3rd level ranger/2nd level druid spell that gives you a +10 insight bonus to both Spot and Listen, and let's you keep your dexterity bonus even when caught flat-footed. It also has a swift action casting time, and is persistable. If this actually prevented you from being flat-footed entirely (and hence enabled you to cast immediate action spells), it would easily win, hands down. As-is... it's still extremely tempting. Again though... this would work well as a wand.

So... what say you, Gentle Readers?

Is there a mirror/repost of Treantmonk20's "Being a GOD" wizard guide anywhere on a website that still exists? I found the wayback link to it...

Edit: It's also on Enworld.

What we had when we left off was my semi-gimpy vitalist healer, two melee fighter types, and... whatever Nanshork is playing... We hardly saw him. He'd just joined.

Huh, FlamingCows made a Taint-based character, with a Template, and 3rd party resources, that claimed it had access to 4th level Spells at level one so it could have two levels of Shadowcraft Mage by level three and I assume it was OK'ed since he made it into the character thread instead of the campaign's pre-discussion thread. Interesting.
Yeah... I was kind of glad he never actually showed up to play that monstrosity (maybe he did very, very briefly, but for most of the campaign he was absent). The rest of the party was far, far less powerful/optimized than that... My character was basically a psionic healer...

My character wouldn't have changed much from that old archived version... So I'd be up for restarting.

Ulfdag (dwarven cleric 9)
Tymlin (halfling rogue 2/wizard 6)
and Meilchor (human cleric 3)

If we could get our sheets and continue on, I'd be game for that. However, I don't have the time (or the will...) to rebuild from scratch.

I broke down and bought (with real $) the Delara's Graveyard set of quests, but now I'm kind of bored with the game... lol. Cleric is level 9, but only really good for grouping (works OK to solo if I hire a mage or barbarian, though). I have a rogue 2/wiz 6 that's OK for soloing that I ran through the graveyard stuff with, but... I'm just not feeling it lately.

My 9 year old son saw me playing and started playing some with me. I made another cleric to run around with his rogue/ranger. They're level 3 so far, but we don't play much, and when we do I think I'd rather it just be he and I, at least for now...

Honestly... I barely knew what was going on most of the time, too, and having to relearn how my character worked every time the game restarted after a stall was kind of a pain... I'm sorry to say it, but I think I'd rather just call it a day...

Also, I was never really that into my character in this game. I just didn't have a lot of fun playing him, but I'm not sure why. That's at least part of the reason I'm not crazy about restarting. Sorry...

Uncanny Forethought (EoE): (intmod)/day cast any spell mastery spell from an open slot.
It's even better than that. You can cast ANY spell (that you know) from one of those slots as a full-round action. Using it for a spell you know via Spell Mastery just speeds it up to a standard action (which RAW is independent of the normal casting time...).

YAY! A new forum! Thanks guys!

Phae, you've got all your material backed up or need help getting it swung across?
I have almost nothing backed up, and I'm in China with really bad internet. So yeah... I could use help. :P

I have your Playground Thread saved as html.  Is there anything else you want or did?
OH my god, thanks! :D The whole Mindscapes subforum, as well as the "3.5 Forms for Alter Self" if you could... and I think I did one on optimizing Chain Spell... although that can basically be summarized by saying "Buffs and Dispels".
